179:: Inspirations

Here are a few things I would love to share with you. When I feel drained and need inspiration, here are a few places I go to clear my head.

Tops on my list if artists I appreciate is duo group Os Gemeos, a Brazilian 2-brother troupe of amazing-ness.

Here is a link to some of their work;
http://osgemeos.com.br/

I was fortunate to visit the Montana Spray Paint Factory in Barcelona Spain this past spring and saw this mural first hand. Do you see how little I am in the face of their creativity?
On the other side is wife and fellow artists Nina. Another amazing one.

This is a site I found while researching for a design project. I love the appreciation for these images and typography. The work is iconic and amazing and I am constantly loving what is popping up in his collection.

Gotta love The Griffey.

You can totally see the mural in the reflection of the glass. I love this photo and am very pleased to steal it from your Flickr account.
Thank you friend!

These prints and more are still available, be sure to stop by the Store section of the site for things you can own!

Things I love right now;
-This Banana, it is giving me nourishment
-Masala, I just learned how to make it. Yay and Yums!
-Dogs. I really want a dog. A good sturdy one, like a lobster or something. I think I will name him Bark Simpson!
-Seattle's Beautiful Weather! It is going to be sunny for the rest of the week. Yes! All my sun dresses will not go to waste!

Be Good!

Ver(a)rt Gallery Presents:: Grip It and Rip It!

Ver(a)rt Gallery Presents:
Grip It and Rip It! with Sanctuary Art Center
Saturday, July 3 at 3:00pm-7:00pm
Ver(a)rt Gallery at the Vera Project

This is an image from the first show in this space. It was a celebration of The Vera's new home and a super affordable, art accessible 179 art show. I think it would be fun to do this again for the holidays.

If you haven't seen the new mural on the staircase done by Solace and I, here is your chance to eat snacks and check it out.

In conclusion, I love the Vera and I love Skate Like a Girl, so please come out, bring your skate boards and say hello!

Read more about the gallery space here.

Bumbershoot 2010

Here is the word friends for Bumbershoot 2010 Art Section.
179 along with friends will be doing art installations for this years Seattle Festival hosted at The Seattle Center.
Seattle Street Biennale 2010
Curated by NKO
Rainier Room

Seattle Street Biennale 2010 is a selection of Seattle's most respected street talent, featuring large site-specific works by Katsu, Angel 179, Ego, Aerub, Baldman Watching, and Joey Nix. A host of other local artists and crews, including NTG, New Mystics, HBF Crew, Gretchen Bennett, Jesse Edwards, 1+1=3, and Blink and Pars, will contribute smaller pieces to make this an installation that takes viewers on a visual experience that is everything from confusing and visceral to violent and beautiful.

Reflecting the vast subculture known as street art, the methods employed--from spray paint to wheat paste--span a wide range of talents. Seattle Street Biennale 2010 represents an influential cross section of prolific Seattle artists.

Seattle Street Biennale 2010 will also feature video components highlighting Seattle street art locations and artists at work, along with a special edition of Seattle Graf Rag produced as the exhibition catalog.

This will be my second time showing at this Seattle Festival, the first being with BLVD Curator and friend Damien Hayes in a show titled BEYOND FRESH.

I showed beside Peek-a-boo Monster, DVS crew, Jesse Edwards amongst others.

Beyond Fresh, Bumbershoot 2004

More info on Bumbershoot may be found on link posted.

More info on the art section can be followed at this LINK;

I am very excited about this project and what I will put forth. From the layout specs, I have the pleasure of painting with amazing people such as Joey Nixx, Ego and Aerub. Stay tuned for updates!

Love,
Angelina
