Seattle Hostel Project

I know I have slacked on getting these images up. Thanks for being patient.
Here they are, taken from the amazing Flickr account of Slightly North;

I had a handsome assistant and whenever someone walked into my room with empty hands I immediately put them to work.

Thank you Seattle Hostel Project and Jen at Upper Playground for making this entire project happen. It was wonderful.

C&N Footlocker: Trick Your Trunk 2007

Here is an old project I worked on.

A little bit about it;
So this company mailed several artists these awesome trunks. We painted them and then has a contest on which was the best. Even though my design wasn't the winner, I was still proud to be apart of the whole process.

Anyhoo, so now I have this trunk and although I love it, the space in my apartment is just too small. If you are need of some art and a storage unit, email me! I promise to give you a good deal =)!

https://www.cnmfg.com/2006/TrickYourTrunk/Artist/Angel179/

"From GermBots and Skullies to koi and jellyfish, 179 compliments chaotic paint dripped backgrounds to simplistic black line work. Reflecting the conflict between what goes on in her head versus what goes on in her heart. Armed with the philosophy that art should be accessible to everyone, she has been known to be passionate about sticker trades, mix tapes, the fantastic combination of fishnets and cleats, and the preservation of the noble axolotl. Inspirations include crazy Mexican mom tattoos, catholic iconography, coffee shop drawing sessions with fellow geeks, current loves and tragic heartaches."

Hangar Cafe, Georgetown

Georgetown!
Crepes, coffee and more!
For the month of October and some of November, you can see 179's paintings at the wonderful Hangar Cafe.

Here is the Yelp review for this amazing place;
Yelp::Hangar

The Hangar Cafe
6261 13th Ave S
Seattle, WA 98108

Hangar Mural on the fence in the front. I remember when I painted this; there was still snow on the ground. There was snow on the grass patch where this mural was painted. My little hands were so cold!

I remember dropping a jar of paint and it shattering on the cement because of the cold. I then got hip and on day 2, painted with gloves on. The old men that drank at Planet Georgetown (RIP) across the street would come out and check up on me.

The owner at the time, Dawn, was super amazing and kept me warm with delicious vanilla soy lattes.

Thanks for stopping by,
Angelina

Astatine is currently the rarest naturally-occurring element, with less than an ounce contained in the entire Earth's crust.

Lovely. Showing with me will be my favorites Ego, Joey Nix, Solace, Weirdo and Chris Sheridan.
Please stop by for the holidays and then head across the street to the Seattle Hostel Project!

Still on the black and white. Here is Elephant from last night.
The layering and detailing is different since it is only in shades of grey. I am happy with it so far. It's an experiment so I can't be wrong either way.
Enjoy!

City Hostel Seattle Presents:

City Hostel Seattle a new Hostel, in Seattle’s vibrant Belltown neighborhood, is featuring 47 Seattle Artists that will paint a wall mural in each room to showcase Seattle’s talented artists. The grand opening will be on Belltown’s Second Friday Artwalk August 14, 6pm-9pm, open and free to the public.

“LET THERE BE ART!” Is a project to give a collective voice to the Seattle artists whose talent is all too often unseen and unheard. City Hostel Seattle will be a platform for local Seattle artists to been seen on a local and international scale.

Come this Friday and check it out!
LET THERE BE ART!:
47 of Seattle’s Finest Artists

http://hostelartcollective.wordpress.com/

Here is a brief summary of what this project is from the Belltown People Blog;
http://belltownpeople.com/2009/07/31/belltown-city-hostel-seattle-some-actual-information

Each room is going to be completely transformed from a white cube into an artist's expression. Curating the project is Jen Vertz (who is also the General Manager for Upper Playground Seattle ) She's assembled a diverse list of local artists that we'll be interviewing as soon as we can. Most of the work is really just getting started. It's hard to describe the scene as I was walking through the Lorraine. I mean, visualize yourself wandering down long dimly lit hallways, peering through doors wondering what confrontation of color would meet your eyes? This honestly seems like an ideal venue for art. Instead of moving from piece to piece, the viewer immerses themselves in the art singularly. It envelops you and has it's way with you whether you like it or not. You're within the art instead of externally observing with a periscope. I'm not sure i'll be able to handle the planar dimension of canvas for a while. The building is slowly coming alive - being reborn by the art that is saving it's walls.

Thanks to Jen Vertz from Upper Playground for curating and including me in on this awesome project! With the help of Corey, we were able to complete my room in 3 days.
Be sure to stop by on Friday to check out all the rooms.

Images will be posted AFTER the showing. Think Butterfly.

Angelinas
